Fishing Adventure to Rockstone

The Rockstone Fish Festival is an annual event which sees participation from Guyana‘s top sport fishing men.
This event is usually scheduled around the end of October or the beginning of November. However, almost all through the year, except for extreme raining seasons, fishing is possible.  Some of the more known fish species found are the Peacock Bass or Lukunani, Hymara, Arawana, Pirana and the endangered Arapaima, world’s largest fresh water fish (trapping not allowed). 

The trip begins at 07.00 hrs, traveling overland via 4*4 vehicles along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway onto the Lethem/Brazil trail through dense rainforest, arriving at Rockstone approximately two hrs after departure. After a day of excitement, relaxation and of course fishing, we return to Georgetown.

Fishing Adventure to Kurupukari on the Essequibo River

Kurupukari, located deep into the Essequibo River, approximately 331 km from Georgetown, Guyana’s Capital City is also the northern boundary of the Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve. It features Guyana’s pristine rainforest, a taste of our indigenous cuisine, out door camping and some of the finest fishing grounds available.

Large species of catch fish, and other fresh water species such as Himara, Peacock and Stripped Bass, Arowana, Byara, Pacu  and the Piranha family are inhabitants of the mighty Essequibo River. which is also home to the largest freshwater fish, the Arapaima (not for trapping).

The journey begins at 06.00 hrs via 4*4 Land Rovers, through Guyana’s rainforest on the rugged Lethem/ Brazil Trail, and takes approximately seven hours, before arriving at the Base Camp. From there, we embark by boat up the Essequibo River for fishing, returning for lunch/dinner and the best rum in the world-El Dorado.

Fishing Expedition to Simoni Lake & Rupununi River

Rupununi River. is a tributary of the Essequibo River. deep into the wilderness of Guyana’s rainforest, the Rupununi Wetlands and Savannahs. Simoni, is a large fresh water Lake, which connects to the Rupununi R. by a smaller creek.

During the rainy season water levels rise and flows into Simoni Lake, taking with it, a myriad of fresh water species, most notable, the Peacock Bass, Arowana and the Piranhas, providing the perfect environment for spawning etc. As the water recedes, the species becomes trapped, thus provides a haven for fresh water fishing.

The journey begins at 04.00 hrs via 4*4 Land Rovers, through Guyana’s rainforest on the rugged Lethem/ Brazil Trail, and takes approximately ten hours, before arriving at Ginnip Landing on the Rupununi R. A two-hour boat ride takes you to the Base Camp along the Bank of the Rupununi R. From there, we embark by boat up the Rupununi R. and Simoni Lake for fishing, returning for lunch/dinner and the best rum in the world-El Dorado.

Fishing Expedition to Rupununi & Rewa Rivers

Rewa Village is situated on the confluence of the Rewa and Rupununi Rivers. This remote Amerindian settlement is a fast growing tourism destination, known for its wildlife and fishing adventures. All of the fresh water fish species known to the Amazon Region can be found in the Essequibo, Rupununi and Rewa Rivers.

The journey begins at 04.00 hrs via 4*4 Land Rovers, through Guyana’s rainforest on the rugged Lethem/ Brazil Trail, and takes approximately nine hours, before arriving at Quartemang Landing on the Rupununi River. A two-hour boat ride takes you to Rewa Eco Lodge on the Bank of the Rewa R. From there, we embark by boat up the Rewa River. to Grass Pond and Sea Wall, as it is known the locals, returning at the end of each day for dinner and the best rum in the world-El Dorado.
